I do not believe Tommy ever left the US before joining Deep Purple. From the bootleg gigs I've heard from the UK tour, Tommy was not at his best, for various reasons. Imho...

Was Purple's tour of the UK the 1st time Tommy had played in the UK? I also wondered did any of these gigs go well?

Cool Rockcellar article about Mark Stein-  Tommy Bolin is mentioned and it sounds like his band The Mark Stein Project will perform songs from throughout his career including the stint with Tommy.

I heard a recent interview with M Fleetwood. He said that about 14 years ago, he booked the Albert Hall. He was going to get Fleetwood Mac to play with Peter Green. Peter wanted to do it, but sadly, he later changed his mind.

Dewey said that Rev's Flying Circus was really small, but the owner ran a chain of local record stores and was on top of the music scene. He saw Boston played their first Milwaukee area show there. It sounds to me like the same size as Ebbets Field in Denver. I've been there and people were crammed at around 230 folks. Thanks to Dewey again for sending that in, seeing that kind of promo for a TBB show is cool.

I poked around a little bit on a Milwaukee music venue Facebook page, asking about that place "Rev's Flying Circus" where Tommy & band played in October of 1976. Waukesha, by the way, is just west of Milwaukee. It didn't sound like a very big room... one guy said it would've been about 250 capacity... but a lot of touring bands in the mid-to-late 70s that went on to have big followings played there. Boston, Runaways, Talking Heads, Ramones, Albert King, Renaissance, Budgie, Savoy Brown...

Happy New year to all the Bolinites from me too. I hope it's another great year for Tommy. It's getting tighter all the time.
