Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal have been announced as headliner for the 2017 Tommy Bolin Music Festival to be held in Sioux City on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Josh appeared as an artist on Season 12 of "The Voice" as part of #TeamBlake and he Soul Colossal's combination of soul, funk and R&B will light their fest slot up. Another first announcement is George Hughen, long time bassist for Black Oak Arkansas, appearing with his own act. I have updated our fest, hotel and fan jams info page at the link below:
I think it's great that Jeff Cook, Bobbie Berge and Stanley Sheldon are going to the fest. Jeff is especially rare, and thanks to Dean Christopher for hooking that up. I helped Jeff promote an album a few years back and I can tell you he's a heck of a cool guy. Two thirds of Energy back together again.
How long have you been listening to Tommy's Music? Since CTTB
Wow .. Jeff Cook, Bobbie Berge and Stanley Sheldon at the fest, that's pretty awesome.
How long have you been listening to Tommy's Music? since 1975
What are your favorite Bolin songs? Lotus and Evening Rain

iii OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT !!! Bobby Berge is definitely coming to the Bolinfest 2017 this year. I think all too often we take his presence at the fest for granted and we shouldn't. He is every bit an equal part of Energy as the rest of the group and was also Tommy's true friend. Bobby was the primary drummer for Tommy not only in Energy but throughout Tommy's entire career. I think it's safe to say no drummer appeared on more records and or live performances with Tommy than him. He was the drummer on Zephyr's 2nd album 'Going Back to Colorado' and also the 'Private Eyes' album. From beginning to end Bobby was there! He also performed on two tracks on Teaser (although credited only on one) and had a stint in the Tommy Bolin band playing live in the final year.
Bobby played and recorded with Buddy Miles (of Hendrix fame) and played on the 'More Miles Per Gallon' and 'Bicentennial' albums. He also did some studio work with Carly Simon. He's jammed with members of Bad Company and Robert Plant and many other known names in Rock. He continues to support Tommy and all the fans with his presence and drumming power at the Bolinfest's and Tribute shows. Let's not forget to raise a glass to Bobby this year and every year.
iii OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT !!! Stan Sheldon has just confirmed that he is going to be at this year's Bolinfest 2017. As any Bolinite knows, Stan was Tommy's true friend and bass player for most of his career. He was in Energy from it's earliest of days all the way through to the Teaser recording sessions of which he was on multiple tracks. He was a key player in Energy and would continue working with Tommy right until Stan got the audition to join Peter Frampton.
Stan went on to live the dream in one of the biggest ways possible. He got the gig with Frampton in late 1975 and less than a year later he was thrust into the fame of the biggest act of the day when Frampton released 'Frampton Comes Alive'. All the dreams he dreamed with Tommy had finally come true. Out of all the members of Energy, Stan has this clear distinction of being part of 'super' rock stardom. He also has credits with many other known rock acts through the years. You must visit his webpage where he has detailed so many great rock and roll stories from throughout his career.

Now I must say I had nothing to do with Stan coming to the fest this year. The stars lined up and he wanted to be here with us celebrating where it all started for him. We are in for a real treat this year with Stan up on that stage. Please Bolinites...book your rooms (HoJo on 4th St.) and make your travel plans. This year is going to be very special indeed. Looking good Stan!
That's fantastic news, Dean. Jeff Cook is a huge part of Tommy's story, and any time those historical exclamation point folks show up it makes it extra special. Great job.
iii OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT !!!
Jeff also has the distinction of being in 'Energy' as the lead vocalist and lyricist of Energy's originals. Some of those lyrics went on to be featured on James Gang albums and Deep Purple's CTTB!
Jeff is still in the music industry and in 2007 collaborated with Allen Toussaint to make a great album called 'Rhythm and Groove'. There will be copies of this record for sale at the merch tables this year so you can check it out. Please support Jeff! Beyond that he has his own successful music marketing company. He has been involved with big named acts from the Grateful Dead to Metallica and too many to list in between!
Jeff was a true friend of Tommy's and is really looking forward to reconnecting with the Bolin legacy. That means us! Make sure to book your rooms (HoJo on 4th St.) and make travel arrangements ASAP...you don't want to miss this!
hey check out this on youtube . it is called tropos built in a day. my brotherinlaw is the drummer
Imelda May's new cd was reviewed on Friday's Arena on RTE Radio 1. It's Album Of The Week on the station, which means they'll play it on the station on their music shows, all week! Pity her marriage broke up. She's gone in a different direction, and T Bone Burnett has produced the new cd. She made the Irish papers for getting rid of her quiff!
